Biodiesel advantages

The main advantage of biodiesel is that it is produced of rapidly recovering resources. This issue is very important for the collective farms which are engaged in the oil processing, and the most important and at the same time the most difficult question is where to get diesel at the beginning of the season. The answer is simple, it is possible to make biodiesel from various feedstock and to become fully independent in energy sources.

Vegetable origin. Biodiesel does not have benzene smell, and is made of oils squeezed of different plants which improve the structural and chemical composition of soil in crop rotation systems. Different kinds of feedstock namely: sunflower seed, rapeseed, soybean, peanut, flax, coconut, corn, mustard, castor, hemp, sesame, jatropha, used oil, as well as animal fats can be used as a raw material for biodiesel production.

Ecology. The undeniable plus of biodiesel production is also in the fact that the quantity of gases coming to atmosphere at biodiesel burning is insignificant and they are less harmful (biodiesel in comparison to mineral analogue contains almost no sulfur (<0001%, whereas mineral diesel fuel contains about 0.2%). The quantities of exhaust components, among them are carbon monoxide CO, unburned hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides NOX and soot are limited in the world practice. Obvious advantages of biodiesel lie in the indicators of combustion: carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and residual particles of carbon black. In the EU biodiesel production has been supported by the government, and it is considered as the strategic direction of the fuel industry.

Biological harmlessness. Compared with mineral oil, 1 liter of which is able to contaminate 1 million liters of drinking water and lead to losses of aquatic flora and fauna, biodiesel, as it was proven with research, does not harm any plants or animals in the water. Moreover, it will be almost completely decomposed by the microorganisms in the soil or water. This fact allows to minimize the pollution of rivers and lakes in case of the using of alternative fuels in the water transport.

Good lubricating properties. It is a known fact that mineral diesel loses its lubricating ability with the removal of sulfur compounds from it . Biodiesel is characterized with the good lubricating properties despite the significantly lower sulfur content.. It is caused by its chemical composition and content of oxygen.

Biodiesel increases the engine service life. When the engine works using biodiesel its moving parts are lubricated, which, as shown by tests, leads to increasing of the service life of the engine and fuel pump at about 60%. It is important that there is no need to upgrade the engine.

The high temperature of ignition. Another technical indicator interesting for organizations that store and transport fuel is the point of ignition. For biodiesel, it exceeds 150 ° C that allows to call the biofuel a relatively safe substance. Nevertheless, it does not mean that it can be treated carelessly.

Glycerin. Glycerin can be used in many ways. The purified glycerin is used for the production of technical cleaning products. After deep cleaning they receive pharmacological glycerin, its cost is about 8 thousand hryvnias per ton. Also phosphate fertilizers intensively used in agriculture can be obtained from adding phosphoric acid to technical glycerin. Thus you can be independent from the import of technical cleaning products and phosphate fertilizers.

Of course, now you are going to ask : "Is it not easier, more safety and less expensive to use the biodiesel fuels instead of mineral ones?” The possibility of using biodiesel fuel is certainly the task for the future.
