Recycling of domestic waste

    Domestic waste is a multicomponent mixture. The burial is a traditional method for waste destruction. The fact that landfills occupy large areas and there is a possibility of soil or water contamination is a big problem.

    The fuel consumption, high gas emissions, the accumulation of dioxins are the main problems of the waste burning.

    Pyrolysis of domestic waste: volatile components of domestic waste are thermally decomposed without air access, oil condenses and non condensed gas can be used in the waste-heat boilers, producing steam for electricity production. The quantity of oil depends on the waste composition. Gasification of waste turns garbage in the presence of air into synthesis gas. This is a chemical process not a burning. Gas which is cleaned from pollution, is directed to produce electricity. As an indication: 1200 kg / h of dry domestic waste generates approximately 1.2 MWt /h of electricity.
